There were angels in the outfield at Yankee Stadium Saturday - and it had nothing to do with baseball.

About 2,000 wanna-be supermodels lit up the ballpark at an open model casting call for Victoria's Secret.

"It's every girl's dream to be a Victoria's Secret model," said Angie Vazquez, 20, a illowy brunette from the Bronx.

She was one of 17 semifinalists in model casting who may have a shot at a slot at the lingerie company's celebrated televised fashion show Dec. 1.

"It's unreal. I'm so excited that I made it this far," said Vazquez, a waitress with no modeling experience but good beauty care and confidence who heard about the casting call from a friend.

The contestants formed a massive line into the stadium lobby, where they paraded by a panel of Victoria's Secret execs who rated them on poise and beauty.

"I'm happy for the girls that made it, and a little bummed I didn't get chosen," said Anna Beilin, a waitress from Kew Gardens who was the first in line but didn't make the cut.

Beilin, 24, arrived alone at midnight and spent the night dozing fitfully on concrete before other contestants in women bikini started arriving around 6 a.m.

"Even though I didn't get chosen, it was worth meeting the other girls involved in web fashion and seeing what a casting call is like," she said. "I'll be here for the next one."

The hopefuls who were selected as semifinalists headed to the stadium's Legends Suite Club, where they modeled women bikini on an improvised runway.

"It's good training for the real thing," said Monica Mitro, executive producer of the Fashion Show and a casting call judge. "It takes courage to walk around in your underwear in public, and the Victoria's Secret show is the highest-profile web fashion show in the world. It's televised in 90 countries."

F-Listed: You clearly have an unusual life – take me through an average day of being Julie Henderson.

Julie Henderson: Define unusual. I wake up, eat, and have a job just like every other woman..lol… Who am I kidding, being a model is tough, people!! You have to watch what you eat with use of beauty product are under strict criticism about your appearance, not for your marketing plan of last quarter, so of course it’s an unusual life. I get to travel and work with many of the world’s most creative people in the fashion business and work long hours and have long stretches off. To get through such an unusual life all any girl can do is stay healthy, positive, surround herself with good people, and go for the best.

FL: Models get some flack because a few are known to have unusual personalities. Is that the hardest part of working as a model and with models?

JH: No, crazy people work in every industry, but I have been fortunate enough to work with some very kind generous people.

FL: Do you hang out with other models in your off-hours?

JH: Yes, I work with some of these women in swimsuits on the beach for seven hours a day sometimes. How can you not form a bond from that!?! And don’t go getting your mind in the gutter from that.

FL: What’s your take on this recent Miss California flap?

JH: She’s gorgeous, but I don’t agree on her opinions in regards to gay marriage. I mean, who does this girl’s hair and makeup?

FL: Who do you think is the most beautiful woman in the world right now?

JH: Mmmm….me? Ha, kidding. No, I think my mother is.

FL: I’ve spent my literally my entire life not single dating models. How can I fix this? Really, any advice would be appreciated.

JH: Be yourself. I like a confident guy that can make me laugh. Not some poser wannabe with his tail between his legs. It’s all about confidence, gentlemen.

FL: You’ve been seen at a number of events recently with Russell Simmons. What’s the status of your relationship?

JH: Russell is an amazing person whom I have become very close with over the past few months. People have all sorts of thoughts and opinions, but the bottom line is, we enjoy each other’s company, and that’s it for now – next question please. :)

FL: Have you found yourself getting interested in the world of hip-hop or in his social and political awareness campaigns?

JH: Russell is an advocate for so many important different causes. I’m amazed at his ability to give back and fight the good fight, it’s been nice to be able to support the same issues – very important to me as well. And all girls love hip hop.

FL: Who’s your favorite rapper that you’ve met so far?

JH: LL Cool J. I have met him on several occasions, and I would have to say that he is one of the most gracious, genuine people I have come to meet, especially someone at his status.

FL: You hang out with celebrities – tell me about the craziest party you’ve ever attended.

JH: Well I wouldn’t be invited back to these parties if I told you then would I?

FL: How about your own most embarrassing moment?

JH: Always trying to eat with 50 photographers around…you try it!

FL: You’ve done a lot of swimsuit work in your life. Would you ever consider posing nude or topless, especially since a number of high-profile women have been doing it recently?

JH: Depends on photographer and publication. Russell James for one of his books, sure. Joe Shmo for Hustler…no. There is art and there is porn, and very rarely do the two meet.

FL: No one gets to be a model forever. You’re still young obviously, but have you ever thought about what your ideal future would be after modeling?

JH: I’m always thinking of new things to do. But you will just have to wait and see what’s to come. ;)

2. We’ve noticed that you often shoot with other models, who is your favorite to shoot with?

Yes, from time to time I do invite other models to appear on my site with me. I usually do a little interview with them on the camera, we spend a day together, have lots of fun, take great pictures with amazing Denise Milani photos and I have to say that all the girls I invited are amazing.

3. What is your favorite photo set?

To be honest with you, all photosets are very special to me. They remind me of places I’ve been to, and people I’ve met and worked with. Like I mentioned, I really like to shoot with other beauty care model girls, its always lots of fun.

The photos will answer most such questions, of course; and we will otherwise let the individual athletes reveal like web models should they so choose, whether they removed all clothing for our shoots."

I like the idea of a sports’ magazine showing athletes bodies off. It appeals to me more than just a model in a swimsuit. I also think that with both male and female athletes both being spotlighted, no one can cry sexism.

Which athletes will be in The Body Issue? No one’s telling, but I think it’s worth the cover price to find out.

Hot Israeli model Bar Refaeli is set to send temperatures soaring in her new swimwear ad.

The 23-year-old stunner, best known for being Leonardo DiCaprio's on-again, off-again girlfriend, was named as the face of California-based surf swimsuit model wear company Hurley earlier this year.

Refaeli recently jetted to Rio de Janeiro to shoot this ad where she gets to cavort around in various string bikini models, reported The Sun.

Earlier, Refaeli told Sawf News: 'Hurley does everything with a lot of genuine heart and I love that Hurley's beach culture lifestyle incorporates fashion and makes it look and feel sexy and effortless.'

Karolina Kurkova is currently ranked by Forbes as the eighth paid female model in the world, her portfolio including contracts with the biggest fashion houses in the world, as well as a place as one of Victoria’s Secret’s world-renowned Angels. Regardless of that, it seems that she too is prone to one of women’s most bitter enemies: the extra pounds. But, as it turns out, hers is a health issue and not a matter of overindulgence.

The Brazilian media has been targeting the Angel for being too fat since last summer, despite the fact that, until not long, it was the same media that was accusing the fashion industry of promoting an image that was anything but healthy for young girls. During the Sao Paolo Fashion Week, Karolina was photographed by model photographer with what resembled traces of cellulite on her legs, as well as with “love handles.”

Talk of the first Victoria’s Secret “fat model” gained even more momentum during the VC November presentation, when, of course, Karolina appeared just as plump as in Sao Paolo. Several sources in the media claim that even her appearance there was in peril because of her weight, as the organizers decided to introduce her only in the last minute, as a bid to get the media off their back with the eating disorders and size 0 talk. This would also explain why Karolina’s name was not included in any of the promo materials that aired before the show.

However, Fox News is now reporting that Karolina’s weight problems might actually be not her own doing, as she could be suffering of a thyroid condition known as hypothyroidism and that affects the metabolism. It could be this condition that has prevented the bikini model from losing weight, despite a strict diet, from which she has eliminated all carbs for more than a year, and an even stricter workout regime that fails to return the desired results.

“She was exhausted and didn’t get down to where she wanted to be.” One source told Fox about Karolina’s failed attempts at losing the weight. If that be the case, and hers is a thyroid issue, then she comes to join other 27 million Americans diagnosed with the same condition.

Aspiring Models Strut Their Stuff

The grand finale of the Wiltshire Times & Chippenham News top model Competition has recently taken place at Club Ice in Westbury. The group of 20 finalists were all that was left from 45 initial competition entrants, with the judges choosing eight top aspiring models from the finalists who were driven away in the lap of luxury via limousine while the audience submitted their choice of winner.

The first prize of the competition was awarded to Naomi Muir, making it a double celebration as it was her 15th birthday on the same day. Second price was taken by Rachel Davis whilst third place went to Robbie Skinner. The panel of judges was comprised of Emily Free, the winner from last years competition, make up artists Sarah Brock, photographer Kevin Hall, Wiltshire Times & Chippenham News executive Denise Wood and Barry White from Club Ice. The event was choreographed by Wayne Palmer of Wayne's World of Fashion, with each finalist performing a routine during their catwalk runs.

Naomi Muir took the top prize, a complete makeover from Mane Event in Trowbridge, a full make-up session with Sarah Brock and a photo-shoot with Kevin Hall. The Ginger Snap modeling agency in Bristol were also introduced to Naomi. She said that "it was amazing but really nerve wracking. It was the best birthday present ever. My friends and family are all really hoarse from cheering me on. My parents have kept telling me how proud they are of me. I've wanted to be a model for ages."

Emily Free, winner of the 2007 competition has since been signed by five different modelling agencies and has had paid work and castings and is enjoying her career as an up and coming model.
